Softball Game Preview: Fairmont Golden Tornadoes vs. Midway Raiders

Fairmont is 1-6 against Midway since May of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Golden Tornadoes are taking a road trip to take on the Raiders at 6:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

On Thursday, Fairmont needed a bit of extra time to put away Pender. They won by a run and slipped past the Patriots 9-8.

Meanwhile, Midway entered their tilt with Hoggard on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Vikings a 1-0 shutout.

Midway saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordyn Christopher, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Fairmont is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Midway, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2.

Fairmont suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Midway in their previous meeting on Tuesday. Can the Golden Tornadoes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
