Preview: Alpine Bucks vs. Stanton Buffaloes
Alpine is 6-1 against Stanton since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Alpine Bucks will head out on the road to take on the Stanton Buffaloes at 8:00 p.m. Alpine is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road.
Alpine stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They blew past Crane, posting a 72-43 win at home. Given Alpine's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 516th, while Crane is ranked 1504th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Stanton fought the good fight in their overtime match against Kermit on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 56-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Yellow Jackets. Stanton's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Alpine is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. As for Stanton, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-16.
Alpine strolled past Stanton in their previous meeting on January 2nd by a score of 58-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alpine since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
