Basketball Recap: New Albany Gets Big Victory over Higher-Ranked Evansville North

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Charlestown, New Albany was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 53-43 victory over the Evansville North Huskies. The win was all the more spectacular given the Bulldogs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while the Huskies are ranked 81st).

Despite the loss, Evansville North still got an impressive performance from Libby Blythe, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 boards. That's the most points Blythe has posted since back in November of 2024. Zhaeyana Cooper was another key player, putting up six points and six rebounds.

New Albany's record is now 6-16. As for Evansville North, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.

New Albany will face off against Seymour at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Evansville North, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-56 loss against Jeffersonville on the 25th.
