Recap: Dover Pirates vs. Atkins Red Devils
There's no place like home for the Dover Pirates, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They strolled past Atkins with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 63-47. Given Dover's advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Atkins is ranked 131st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Logan Young was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Kenzie Mccrotty, who scored six points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Dover's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 21.67 points. As for Atkins, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.
Dover will look to defend their home court on Friday against Maumelle Charter at 7:00 p.m. As for Atkins, they will head out on the road to challenge Central Arkansas Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Central Arkansas Christian is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
