Baseball Game Preview: Mountain View Bruins vs. Summit Academy Bears

The Mountain View Bruins and the Summit Academy Bears will meet on Monday for a tough Bear Battle. Mountain View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.

Mountain View is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Hunter 21-1 on Friday. The Bruins have beaten the Wolverines the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wolverines has come to flipping the script.

Noa Ioane looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Josh Hair was a standout: he scored four runs while going 2-for-3. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dexter Clark, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Mountain View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Summit Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against North Sanpete, falling 11-0.

The win got Mountain View back to even at 3-3. As for Summit Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Everything went Mountain View's way against Summit Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2021, as Mountain View made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mountain View since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
