Basketball Recap: Humphrey-Lindsay Gets the Win

Elgin/Pope John came into Thursday's matchup looking for another win against Humphrey-Lindsay, but Owen Kurtenbach wouldn't allow it. The Humphrey-Lindsay Bulldogs walked away with a 62-49 victory over the Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack on Thursday thanks in part to Kurtenbach, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Humphrey-Lindsay's points.

Cole Preister was another key player, putting up seven points. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2023.

The win got Humphrey-Lindsay back to even at 9-9. As for Elgin/Pope John, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-8.

Humphrey-Lindsay will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Twin River at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. As for Elgin/Pope John, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Boyd County at 6:30 p.m. Elgin/Pope John is facing Boyd County at the right time seeing as Boyd County is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
