Football Recap: Herrin Tigers vs. Prairie Central Hawks

After flying high against Massac County/Joppa-Maple Grove last Friday, Herrin came back down to earth. The Herrin Tigers took a blow against the Prairie Central Hawks on Saturday, falling 49-15. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 41-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.

Prairie Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Caiden Schulz out in front who picked up 43 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 32 yards.

Herrin's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Prairie Central, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Herrin will take on Harrisburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Prairie Central, they will challenge Monticello at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Monticello will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Prairie Central surely won't give up without a fight.
