Basketball Game Preview: McGuffey Highlanders vs. Bishop Canevin Crusaders

The McGuffey Highlanders will venture away from home to challenge the Bishop Canevin Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

McGuffey's tournament run continued when they took on Chartiers-Houston on Saturday. McGuffey received a blow as they fell 53-37 to Chartiers-Houston.

Meanwhile, Bishop Canevin came up short against North Allegheny on Saturday and fell 52-44. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 400th, while the Tigers are ranked 158th).

Bishop Canevin has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for McGuffey, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2.
