Baseball Game Preview: Shelley Russets vs. Idaho Falls Tigers

Shelley hasn't had much luck against Idaho Falls recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Russets will venture away from home to square off against the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. Shelley will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

On Friday, Shelley came up short against Blackfoot and fell 10-5. That's two games in a row now that the Russets have lost by exactly five runs.

Kael Remington was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Beck, who went 3-for-5 with three runs.

Meanwhile, Idaho Falls suffered their closest defeat since April 8th on Tuesday. They fell just short of Blackfoot by a score of 5-3. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Broncos: they've now lost seven in a row.

Logan Whiting was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, Makai Ferguson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Idaho Falls: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Nelson Kunz, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Shelley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Idaho Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 5-16.
