Heritage has gone 10-0 against Southern Wells recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Heritage Patriots will venture away from home to challenge the Southern Wells Raiders at 7:30 p.m. Heritage is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.9 points per game this season.
Heritage easily dispatched South Adams back in December of 2024, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Heritage fell just short of Fort Wayne Northrop by a score of 42-39 back in December of 2024. The matchup marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Despite their loss, Heritage saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Braden Walter, who posted six points and five boards, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Lantae Cassel, who put up eight points and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Southern Wells was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-44 heartbreaker at the hands of Union City.
Like Heritage, Southern Wells lost despite seeing results from several players. Cj Reber led the charge by going 8 of 17 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds. Those 20 points gave Reber a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Johnson, who posted 13 points.
Southern Wells' record is now 0-7. As for Heritage, they suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 5-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Heritage has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Southern Wells struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything went Heritage's way against Southern Wells in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as Heritage made off with a 61-40 win. In that game, Heritage amassed a halftime lead of 35-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
