Basketball Recap: BASIS Flagstaff's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

BASIS Flagstaff extended their winning streak to eight games thanks to a huge performance from Daniel Quiroz. The BASIS Flagstaff Yetis came out on top against the Music Mountain Warriors by a score of 61-48 on Friday thanks in part to Quiroz, who went 12 for 19 on his way to 26 points and eight rebounds. Those 26 points gave him a new career-high.

The team also got some help courtesy of Lincoln Bradford, who posted 16 points and eight rebounds. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points.

Despite the loss, Music Mountain saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Micah Quasula went 7 of 15 on his way to 17 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Quasula has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lonewolf Havatone, who had 12 points.

BASIS Flagstaff's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Music Mountain, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-5.

BASIS Flagstaff will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Dishchii'bikoh at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. Music Mountain also won't see the court for a while: their next game is against Ash Fork at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Music Mountain is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.7 points per game this season.
