The Centerville Elks are taking a road trip to face off against the Springboro Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Centerville is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
On Monday, Centerville was able to grind out a solid victory over Beavercreek, taking the game 11-7.
Caitlyn Belcher made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Belcher was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Natalie Carr was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 12 contests. Chayse Adkins was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Centerville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .513. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Springboro was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They put the hurt on Wayne with a sharp 11-1 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Bella Breen spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Springboro let Riley Lucas and Kylene Seibel run wild. Lucas went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two doubles, while Seibel went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Claire Slate also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Centerville's record is now 18-6. As for Springboro, their record now sits at 16-8.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Centerville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .474. However, it's not like Springboro struggles in that department as they've averaged .438. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Centerville's way against Springboro in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, as Centerville made off with a 17-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Elks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
