Volleyball Game Preview: Paintsville Tigers vs. Martin County Cardinals

Paintsville is a perfect 10-0 against Martin County since September of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Tigers will welcome the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Paintsville has three straight victories, Martin County has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Monday, it was close, but Paintsville sidestepped Johnson Central for a 3-2 win.

Paintsville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from McKinley Ramey, who had 13 digs and two assists. Those 13 digs gave Ramey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bentley Smith, who had six digs and four aces.

Paintsville was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Martin County duked it out with Boyd County on Thursday. The Cardinals lost 3-0 to the Lions.

Martin County's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Paintsville, their victory bumped their record up to 17-10.

Paintsville was able to grind out a solid win over Martin County when the teams last played back in August, winning 2-0. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
