Softball Recap: New Lexington Takes a Loss

New Lexington extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 8-12 in the process. They lost 16-1 to the West Muskingum Tornadoes. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 9-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

New Lexington saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lena Finck, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Another was Caroline Dupler, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

As for West Muskingum, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-6. Considering they have won eight matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

On West Muskingum's side, the team relied heavily on Addy Antonetz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. What's more, Antonetz posted three RBI, the most she's had over her last 11 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Lydiah Huey, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

While New Lexington had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
