Recap: Y Yuma vs. Sedgwick County Cougars
There's no place like home for the Y Yuma, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against Sedgwick County by a score of 67-56 on Thursday. Given Y's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Sedgwick County is ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Y got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brody Sheffield out in front who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Cristian Duarte, who scored 12 points.
Y pushed their record up to 14-2 with that victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Sedgwick County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Y won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Merino at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. One thing working in Y's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Sedgwick County, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Wray at 4:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Wray focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Saturday.
