Softball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is West End's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

West End's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Susan Moore Bulldogs a 15-0 shutout. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Liddy Falkner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braylee King, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). DaLeigha Wheeler was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

West End was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

West End is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. Susan Moore's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
