Basketball Recap: West Jefferson Roughriders vs. Urbana Hillclimbers
After a string of three wins, the West Jefferson Roughriders's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They were beaten by Urbana 53-20. While losing is never fun, West Jefferson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 479th, while the Hillclimbers are ranked 227th).
Peyton Mounce was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds for Urbana. Mounce is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last 18 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexandra Dixon, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four steals.
West Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Urbana, their win bumped their record up to 15-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Jefferson will challenge the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Mechanicsburg will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak alive. As for Urbana, they will head out on the road to take on the Red Raiders at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
