Softball Recap: Newton South Wins Going Away Against Cambridge Rindge & Latin

Newton South won the last time they faced Cambridge Rindge & Latin and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Lions blew past the Falcons 23-9. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by seven runs or more this season.

Newton South got a massive performance out of Zoe Spector, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that Spector hit this season. Lila Coull was another key player, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.

Newton South lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more home runs.

The victory made it two in a row for Newton South and bumps their season record up to 5-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Cambridge Rindge & Latin, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Newton South and Cambridge Rindge & Latin will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Lions see the field they'll take on Boston Latin at 4:30 p.m. on the 28th. As for Cambridge Rindge & Latin, their break will end when they face Lincoln-Sudbury at 4:30 p.m. on the 28th.
