Baseball Recap: Milledgeville Takes a Loss

Milledgeville had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 7-13 to make it five. They lost 8-0 to the Forreston Cardinals. The Missiles were not able to make up for their loss to the Cardinals from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

As for Forreston, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-4. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won 16 games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Forreston's part, Brendan Greenfield made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Greenfield has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, earning two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Carson Akins was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Milledgeville will head out to challenge Morrison at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Forreston, they will venture away from home to take on Dunlap at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Cardinals' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
