Auburndale has gone a perfect 7-0 against Lake Region recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bloodhounds will look to defend their home field against the Thunder at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Auburndale's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-0 win over Poinciana. The result was nothing new for the Bloodhounds, who have now won four contests by 22 points or more so far this season.
Auburndale got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Teo Edwards out in front who threw for 126 yards and one touchdown, and also punched in one score on the ground. Pat Weir Jr was another key back, rushing for 34 yards and one TD.
Auburndale's run defense was locked in: Poinciana could only muster one yards per carry. That's the most yards per carry they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Auburndale didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Kris Williams, Cassidy Ervin, and Willie Manuel picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, Lake Region didn't have too much trouble with Poinciana last Friday as they won 20-6. That 14 point margin sets a new team best for the Thunder this season.
Auburndale better keep an eye on Semaj Jeanty. He was instrumental in Lake Region's win, throwing for 197 yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 33 yards and one score. A healthy portion of Jeanty's aerial production (81 yards to be exact) went to Jermaine May.
The win made it two in a row for Auburndale and bumps their season record up to 5-2. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.5 points over those games. As for Lake Region, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Everything came up roses for Auburndale against Lake Region in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 34-0 win. Will the Bloodhounds repeat their success, or do the Thunder have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
