Basketball Game Preview: Sterling Rangers vs. Pineywoods Community Academy Timberwolves

The Sterling Rangers will face off against the Pineywoods Community Academy Timberwolves at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Sterling knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Pineywoods Community Academy likes a good challenge.

While Sterling didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-23), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They enjoyed a cozy 61-43 win over Brazoswood on Friday.

Meanwhile, everything went Pineywoods Community Academy's way against Broaddus on Tuesday as Pineywoods Community Academy made off with a 54-31 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Timberwolves.

Pineywoods Community Academy's win came from a few key players Sterling will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaziel Reyes, who went 7 of 12 en route to 16 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Viduarri, who went 5 of 8 en route to 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Pineywoods Community Academy's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 7-9. As for Sterling, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.
