Basketball Game Preview: Mesquite Wildcats vs. West Linn Lions

The Mesquite Wildcats and the West Linn Lions will face off at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Mesquite is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.1 points per game this season.

Mesquite is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Skyridge just ended the team's 12-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 43-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons. The game marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Lucy Fisher put forth a good effort for the losing side as she went 5 of 8 on her way to 11 points along with five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebekah Udall, who posted three points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Even though they lost, Mesquite smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 14 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, West Linn suffered their closest loss since February 5th on Friday. They fell just short of Highlands Ranch by a score of 57-54. The Lions' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mesquite fell to 12-1. As for West Linn, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
