Basketball Game Preview: Meadow Bridge Wildcats vs. Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders

The Meadow Bridge Wildcats will square off against the Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meadow Bridge is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 77-43, which was the final score in Meadow Bridge's tilt against Mount View last Thursday.

Meanwhile, Greater Beckley Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 80-76 to Chapmanville Regional. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (68), the Crusaders still had to take the loss.

Meadow Bridge will have to contain Drew Fitzwater as he made an impact in Greater Beckley Christian's last game. He almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Fitzwater a new career-high in assists (five). Another player making a difference was Averyk Woodson, who posted 15 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Even though they lost, Greater Beckley Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive games.

Meadow Bridge's defeat dropped their record down to 2-19. As for Greater Beckley Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.
