Softball Recap: Frederick Cadets vs. South Hagerstown Rebels
Frederick had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-10 to make it seven. They lost 14-1 to the South Hagerstown Rebels. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rebels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-3 back in March.
Frederick saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maya Mulitauaopele, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one double.
As for South Hagerstown, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. The result was nothing new for South Hagerstown, who have now won four games by ten runs or more so far this season.
On South Hagerstown's side, Raelee Fry was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Fry a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ja'Seri Chapman was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2025. Triana Williams also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Frederick is set to take on their familiar foe Oakdale at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, South Hagerstown will face off against rival Linganore at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
