Basketball Game Preview: Marquez Gladiators vs. Los Amigos Lobos

The Marquez Gladiators will take on the Los Amigos Lobos at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Marquez is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Maywood CES: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Gladiators blew the Wolfpack out of the water with a 67-18 final score. With the Gladiators ahead 45-10 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Meanwhile, Los Amigos didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Western on Friday, but they still walked away with a 50-46 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lobos' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while the Pioneers are ranked 789th).

Marquez better keep an eye on Mekhi Belote. He was instrumental in Los Amigos' win, dropping a double-double with 20 points and 14 boards. What's more, Belote posted three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Martinez, who scored 11 points.

Los Amigos' win bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Marquez, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.
