Basketball Recap: Christian Gibson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mayde Creek over Jordan

Mayde Creek lost against Jordan back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Mayde Creek Rams took a hard 66-48 fall against the Jordan Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Warriors are ranked tenth).

Mayde Creek lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Christian Gibson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, Gibson is now averaging an impressive 8 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was Julio Quinones, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Jordan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaden Holt, who earned 19 points and five assists. Holt has been hot, having posted 16 or more points the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Black, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 13 points.

Mayde Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Jordan, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-2.

Mayde Creek will square off against Paetow at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Jordan, they will take on Morton Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Jordan is facing Morton Ranch at the right time seeing as Morton Ranch is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
