Soccer Game Preview: Sumner vs. Steinbrenner

Sumner has won six straight games at home, while Steinbrenner has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Sumner Stingrays will take on the Steinbrenner Warriors in a tournament on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Tuesday, Sumner made easy work of Plant and carried off a 4-1 win. Given the Stingrays' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Panthers are ranked 123rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sumner hit Plant with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Kynedi Richardson (2), Mallory Smithberger, and Jade-Mykahl Hendricks.

Meanwhile, Steinbrenner kept a clean sheet against Freedom on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 9-0 margin over the Patriots. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their one-goal performance the matchup before.

Sumner's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Steinbrenner, their win bumped their record up to 12-1-2.
