Softball Recap: Animo Venice Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Animo Venice had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Los Angeles Academy of Arts & Enterprise Wolves as they made off with a 22-6 victory. The Pirates have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wolves, too.

S Osorio made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 1-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game.

In other batting news, M Perez was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of A Mendoza, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Animo Venice lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Animo Venice's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Los Angeles Academy of Arts & Enterprise, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Animo Venice is set to take on their familiar foe Stella High Charter Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Los Angeles Academy of Arts & Enterprise will challenge rival Alliance Health Services Academy at 2:00 p.m. on April 8.
