Softball Recap: Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Comes Up Short

Waterville-Elysian-Morristown had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-5 to make it four. They fell 3-0 to the Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights. The Buccaneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Kenyon-Wanamingo, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games.

For Kenyon-Wanamingo's part, the result came thanks to Anna Ostertag's shutout, as she gave up just three hits. Ostertag has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addison Lindell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs. Amber Lerfald also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Looking ahead, Waterville-Elysian-Morristown will look to defend their home field on Thursday against United South Central at 4:30 p.m. As for Kenyon-Wanamingo, they will square off against Blooming Prairie at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
