Softball Recap: Centennial Wins Going Away Against Liberty

Centennial came out on top against Liberty on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run seventh inning. The Golden Hawks blew past the Patriots 11-0. The Golden Hawks haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Reese Stover and Madison Cabrera were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Stover pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Cabrera tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Stover has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. At bat, Stover went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Cabrera went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Stover a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Brynlee George looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Alex Andersen, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Jayden Holland also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Centennial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Centennial's record is now 15-7. As for Liberty, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.

Centennial has already played their next game, a 3-1 defeat against Stockdale on the 30th. As for Liberty, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, an 8-4 victory against Garces Memorial on the 30th.
