Baseball Recap: Knox Central Beats Bell County for Their Third Straight Victory

Knox Central lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Bell County, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's game. The Panthers blew past the Bobcats 10-1 on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won three matches in a row.

Zack Carrol spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brady Engle, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Knox Central is 3-1 when Engle posts two or more runs, but 3-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of John Hobbs, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Knox Central pushed their record up to 6-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Bell County, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8.

Looking ahead, Knox Central will welcome Pulaski County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bell County, they will face off against Barbourville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
