Baseball Recap: Lincolnton's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak at Home

Lincolnton's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Bessemer City Yellow Jackets by a score of 13-10. The Wolves have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Yellow Jackets, too.

The team relied heavily on Yorye Urena, who scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Lincolnton is undefeated when Urena posts two or more runs, but 3-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Bradyn Bass, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and one RBI.

Lincolnton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Lincolnton's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-13. As for Bessemer City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincolnton will host Maiden at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The last five games the Blue Devils have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Bessemer City, they will take on Highland Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
