Softball Recap: Sunny Hills Lancers vs. La Habra Highlanders
Sunny Hills had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 9-13 to make it five. They lost 6-0 to the La Habra Highlanders. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Highlanders this season, with their most recent loss being a 5-0 defeat back in April.
As for La Habra, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.
For La Habra's part, Madison Payne tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. Payne has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Eliana Corona was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Georgia Rickenbacker was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI.
