After a string of three wins, Lanier's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Vanguard Academy Beethoven by a score of 2-1.

Lanier started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-17, 15-8.

Leah Vasquez paced Lanier's offense, picking up seven kills. Vasquez got some help from M'Alayshia Brown and her 11 assists. Brown was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Lanier's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Vanguard Academy Beethoven, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Lanier has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against Juarez-Lincoln on the 30th. As for Vanguard Academy Beethoven, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Porter on the 30th.
