Basketball Recap: Bluegrass United Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Bluegrass United had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 55-48 win over the Cumberland Christian Home Educators Hawks on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Bluehawks in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won five in a row.

Joshua Sloan and Gabe Coleman certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Sloan dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds, while Coleman posted nine points in addition to seven boards and three blocks. Noah Hughes was another key player, putting up five points.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Bluegrass United will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Richmond HomeSchool at 12:00 p.m. on November 1. The matchup will give the Bluehawks their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Cumberland Christian Home Educators, they will head out on the road to challenge Veritas Christian Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
