The North Bay Haven Academy Buccaneers will head out to square off against the Freeport Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. North Bay Haven Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
North Bay Haven Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Crossroad Academy a 25-0 shutout. The high-scoring effort was just what the Buccaneers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Hayden Farrow and Waylon King were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Farrow tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, King tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Farrow has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Farrow scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while King scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, North Bay Haven Academy let Tyler Simmons and Jack Peaden run wild. Simmons scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5, while Peaden went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Simmons a new career-high. Kaden Holmes also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
North Bay Haven Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .825. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Freeport entered their tilt with Destin on Friday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 3-0 win over the Sharks. While the Bulldogs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Not much got past Caleb Hoogewerf, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Destin off the board.
Freeport pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for North Bay Haven Academy, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. North Bay Haven Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Freeport struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
North Bay Haven Academy came up short against Freeport in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 6-1. Can North Bay Haven Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
