Basketball Game Preview: Manteno Panthers vs. Momence Momence Athletics

Having just played yesterday, the Manteno Panthers will get right back to it and host the Momence Momence Athletics at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Momence took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Manteno, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Manteno beat Reed-Custer 42-37. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Meanwhile, Momence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 58-53 heartbreaker at the hands of Grace Christian Academy.

Manteno will have to contain Brogan Halpin as he made an impact in Momence's last game. He went 9 of 14 on his way to 21 points and six boards. Those 21 points gave Halpin a new career-high. Erick Castillo was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Manteno's victory bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Momence, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.

Manteno skirted past Momence 60-58 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Will Manteno repeat their success, or does Momence have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
