Baseball Recap: South Wake Gets the Win

South Wake picked up another tournament win on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Providence Athletic Club Panthers 6-4.

Noah Wright looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. South Wake is 2-1 when Wright allows one or fewer hits, but 7-14 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Caden Collins was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryan Shope, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

South Wake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.

South Wake's victory bumped their record up to 9-15. As for Providence Athletic Club, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Coming up, South Wake will challenge Ellis County Christian Homeschool Organization at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Providence Athletic Club does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
