With a playoff win on the line, Northwest Rankin rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Hernando Tigers. The victory was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on nine straight.

Bella Pierce looked comfortable as she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sybil Glover, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brooke Smith, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.

Northwest Rankin's win bumped their record up to 32-4. As for Hernando, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 33-3 record.

Northwest Rankin will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday.
