Evergreen couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Swanton Bulldogs by a score of 2-0 on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Evergreen of the 5-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.
For Swanton's part, Luke Marlow was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (he also only allowed one walk). Marlow was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Marlow wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carsen Lemons, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Evergreen will head out on the road to challenge Delta at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Swanton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cardinal Stritch at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
