Baseball Recap: Fernley Takes a Loss

Fernley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wooster Colts. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 9, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Riley McCullar was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

McCullar wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Lyon, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Fernley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5-1. As for Wooster, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Wooster beat Fernley by a score of 4-0 later that day.
