Baseball Recap: South Plantation Find Success

South Plantation proved they can win big last Friday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the South Broward Bulldogs 8-6. This was payback for the Paladins, who suffered a 4-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

South Plantation got a great performance from Caleb Thomas as he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Thomas has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Noah Robaina, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of South Plantation's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 7-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was John McDevitt, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.

South Plantation was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Broward only posted a batting average of .148.

South Plantation's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-11. As for South Broward, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Plantation will face off against Deerfield Beach at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Broward, they will square off against Taravella at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
