Volleyball Recap: Corydon Central Takes a Loss

Corydon Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Springs Valley Blackhawks, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2018.

The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-13, 25-16.

Corydon Central's offense was headlined by Anniston Windell and Brookyn Simpson, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Khloe Kraft and her 16 assists.

Springs Valley had a senior duo take command as Maci Eckerty had 14 digs and one assist and Maddie Carnes hit 52.9% for nine kills and 15 digs and three aces. Carnes has been hot for a while, having also posted 14 or more assists the last 35 times she's played.

Corydon Central's loss dropped their record down to 4-20. As for Springs Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season.

Corydon Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Jeffersonville on the 6th. As for Springs Valley, they will venture away from home to face off against Salem at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
