Baseball Recap: Tivy Takes a Loss

Tivy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Smithson Valley, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Antlers fell just short of the Rangers by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Antlers in their meetings with the Rangers: they've now lost six in a row.

Sam Barber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tivy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Guy Flores, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Tivy's loss dropped their record down to 11-17. As for Smithson Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.

Tivy will take on Boerne-Champion at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chargers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Antlers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Smithson Valley, they will face off against Veterans Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rangers are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
