Softball Game Preview: Bucktail Bucks vs. Canton Warriors

The Bucktail Bucks are headed away from home for the first time to square off against the Canton Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Canton took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Bucktail, who comes in off a win.

Bucktail's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Sugar Valley Rural with a sharp 15-0 victory.

Carrie Ditty made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ditty was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Makenna Stone was a standout: she scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kendall Wagner, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Bucktail always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .758. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Canton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 14-4 to Northeast Bradford.

Canton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Bucktail, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Everything went Bucktail's way against Canton in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as Bucktail made off with a 10-2 victory. Does Bucktail have another victory up their sleeve, or will Canton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
