Basketball Game Preview: Singer Hornets vs. Lacassine Cardinals

The Singer Hornets will head out to challenge the Lacassine Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, Singer didn't have quite enough to beat Pickering and fell 51-49. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Lacassine entered their tilt with LaGrange on Tuesday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They enjoyed a cozy 77-60 win over the Gators. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Gators are ranked 210th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lacassine pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.5 points per game. As for Singer, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5-1.

Singer was able to grind out a solid win over Lacassine in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, winning 90-79. The rematch might be a little tougher for Singer since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
