Baseball Game Preview: William Allen Canaries vs. Emmaus Hornets

William Allen hasn't had much luck against Emmaus recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. William Allen will welcome Emmaus at 4:00 p.m.

William Allen is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Monday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Pleasant Valley.

Emill Roman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Durell Holden, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Roman wasn't the only one working in the hit department: William Allen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Emmaus posted their closest victory since April 29, 2024 on Thursday. They skirted past Nazareth Area 6-4. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Blue Eagles: they've now won five in a row.

Aaron Fleetwood was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

William Allen's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Emmaus, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

William Allen's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's match. William Allen has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Emmaus, though, as they've been averaging only 0.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will William Allen continue to outrun the ball?

William Allen came up short against Emmaus in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 14-10. Can William Allen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
