Baseball Game Preview: Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys vs. Bishop Badgers

Falfurrias hasn't had much luck against Bishop recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Fightin' Jerseys will challenge the Badgers at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Falfurrias is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Rio Hondo a 10-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Fightin' Jerseys.

Nathaniel Jaramillo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Jax Garcia was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ben Benavides, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Bishop came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Pirates as they made off with a 9-1 victory. That's two games straight that the Badgers have won by exactly eight runs.

Falfurrias' record now sits at 22-10-2. As for Bishop, their record is now 17-7-2.
