Softball Recap: Genoa Area Comes Up Short

Genoa Area had lost five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-8 to make it six. They came up short against the Eastwood Eagles, falling 26-0. The Comets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Eastwood, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-1. That 26 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

For Eastwood's part, MacKenzie Hady made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Hady has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Karly Wasserman was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with eight RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Addison Bowe was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four runs, five RBI, and one stolen base.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Genoa Area will square off against Van Buren at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Eastwood, they will face off against Elmwood at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
