Baseball Recap: Master's Academy's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Master's Academy had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.1 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Calvary Chapel Academy Eagles with a sharp 17-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won eight contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Nate Downey made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs.

In other batting news, Luke Bona and Jacob Cotgreave did most of the damage at the plate: Bona scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Cotgreave scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Bona is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last nine games he's played. David Bona also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Master's Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calvary Chapel Academy only posted a batting average of .000.

Master's Academy pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Calvary Chapel Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-8.

Coming up, Master's Academy will face off against Lincoln Park Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Calvary Chapel Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Brevard HEAT at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Calvary Chapel Academy has given up an average of 14.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
